Evan Corsiglia, University of Dallas, Men's Soccer - Character & Community

EVAN CORSIGLIA OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior on the men's soccer team from Oakdale, Colo., has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning February 12.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Evan has gone all-in at the University of Dallas, both on and off the field. On top of being a captain for the men’s soccer team, he is part of a variety of clubs and committees on campus.

He believes so strongly in the community that has been cultivated on UD’s campus, that he works in the undergraduate admissions office as a student ambassador, leading tours and providing information for prospective students.

While Evan was drawn to UD by the rigorous academics and the renowned biology department, athletics has played a vital role in his life. He is now in his second year as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee on campus, where he is passionate about not only promoting athletics to a wider audience, but also in ensuring that his fellow student-athletes have the proper resources they need to maintain their physical, spiritual, and mental health.

“I enjoy being a part of SAAC because I get to help student-athletes on and off the field,” said Corsiglia. “I’ve met incredible people here at the University of Dallas. They’ve all pushed me to be a better person, whether that’s academically, athletically, or spiritually. I am extremely grateful for them, and this is the reason why I serve the UD community: to continue to promote the identity of our community at UD and to hopefully encourage people to share in that.”

Evan is also an avid member of the Social Leaders for Racial Solidarity club on campus, a group that advocates for inclusivity on campus. He cites his Catholic faith, another tenet of the UD experience, as one of his reasons for joining.

“I enjoy being a part of this club because I get to help advocate for inclusiveness at this university, as well as get to promote my Catholic identity by treating everyone with dignity and respect.”
