For the 10th consecutive conference tournament, Texas Lutheran (19-2 SCAC; 28-3 overall) will be the overall top seed. The Bulldogs are currently ranked 11th in the nation (NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll) and head into the tournament having clinched its 10th-straight SCAC regular season title after a three game sweep of University of St. Thomas over the weekend. Earlier this season, TLU head coach Wade Wilson became the first SCAC softball coach and the seventh coach, regardless of sport, to earn their 200th conference win.
On the other side of the bracket will be Trinity (17-4 SCAC; 29-11 overall), which will be the No. 2 seed after posting its best regular season finish since the 2016 season. The Tigers, led by first-year head coach Bailey Wittenauer, will receive a first-round bye, along with Texas Lutheran, into Friday's winner's bracket contest.
Battling in first round match-ups on Friday, fourth-seeded Southwestern (12-8 SCAC; 15-24) will take on fifth-seeded Centenary (8-13 SCAC; 13-25) at 11 a.m. and that will be followed by third-seeded and defending tournament champion St. Thomas (15-6 SCAC; 22-12) taking on the sixth-seed Austin College (7-14 SCAC; 18-20) in the 1:30 p.m. game. All times are Central.
Since the inception of the SCAC Softball Tournament in the 1999 season, Texas Lutheran (2014-19, 2021-22) has claimed a league-record eight tournament titles and Trinity (1999, 2000-02, 2005-07) follows closely with seven. DePauw University won three (2008-09, '11), Southwestern two (2010, '13) and Millsaps College (2003), Sewanee-University of the South (2004), Birmingham-Southern College (2012) and St. Thomas (2023) have one title apiece.
