LOUISVILLE, Ky., -- Texas Lutheran University senior right-hander Ashlyn Strother has been named the Wilson/NFCA Division III National Pitcher of the Week it was announced Tuesday.
Strother was simply sensational in the circle last week for the No. 15 Bulldogs, posting a perfect 3-0 record with three complete game shutouts, one perfect game and two no-hitters. Strother opened the week with a complete game shutout, 7-0, win over Southwestern, allowing just one hit in seven innings, while striking out 14. Then over the weekend, Strother tossed a pair of no-hit complete games against Dallas, including a perfect game on Friday in which she struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced. Strother has now strung together five-straight shutouts and 34-straight scoreless innings. In total last week, Strother allowed just one hit in 17 innings of work, walked just one batter and struck out 39 to move into first place in the SCAC this season with 73 total strikeouts. The senior is now the all-time leader in TLU program history and fourth in SCAC history with 541 career strikeouts.
DePauw’s Emily Timberman was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week. Winners are selected by the NFCA Division III Top 25 committee, which has a representative from each of the 10 NCAA regions.
Earlier in the week, Strother was also named SCAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
Strother is the first SCAC athlete to be recognized by the NFCA for one of its national weekly awards since TLU’s Serena Gonzalez was named Player of the Week back in April of 2023. This marks the second career NFCA National Pitcher of the Week honor for Strother, also being selected back in March of 2022.
