Kennedy Andrews, Colorado College, Men's Basketball - Character & Community

KENNEDY ANDREWS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore on the men's basketball team from Beaumont, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning March 4.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Kennedy and the rest of the CC men’s basketball team participate regularly in serving local elementary school students, including those at Centennial Elementary School. The team visit the school on a regular basis and interacts, plays and mentors the students. Kennedy is also a part of the brand new Black Student-Athletes (BSA) organization on campus that is focused on providing a safe space for black athletes at CC to fellowship and share their experiences with one another.

“It’s been a blessing to be a part of this team and meet so many great guys, loyal guys that will have your back,” said Andrews. “Over time, serving the kids and community has just become the character [of our team] of helping people.”
