MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- After lifting Trinity University to its third-straight 20-plus win season for the first time since 2005-06, an SCAC Regular Season Title and the program’s second NCAA Tournament appearance in the last three years, First Year forward, Christian Green, was named the National Rookie of the Year by D3Hoops.com.
Green, a First Team All-SCAC performer and SCAC First-Year Player-of-the-Year, orchestrated a phenomenal rookie campaign that saw him lead the Tigers in scoring, rebounding, assists, blocks and field goal percentage. He finished in the top-five of the SCAC in several statistical categories including third in blocks per game (1.3), fourth in rebounds per game (7.6) and fifth in points per game (16.1). He was one of just two SCAC men’s basketball players to finish in the top five in both points and rebounds per contest.
Nationally, Green’s 436 total points was fourth best among all first years in NCAA Division III and his 206 total rebounds was good enough for 10th in Division III for rookies. Last week, Green was named D3Hoops.com Region X Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Region X.
Green’s selection for D3Hoops.com Rookie of the Year is the second in SCAC history, joining Dallas’ Spencer Levi who was honored following the 2017-18 season.
