Trinity Leads After Day One of SCAC Women's Golf Championship

Tomorrow’s second round at the par-72, 5,688-yard layout will begin at 8:30 a.m.

After the first 18 holes, Trinity is sitting at +27 and is 13 shots clear of Southwestern which is currently in second after firing a first-round score of 328 (+40). The Tigers took advantage on the par 4s, finishing an opening round best +24 as a team and 18 shots better than the second-best squad, Southwestern.

Three Tigers sit in the top five after the opening round, led by Erin Flynn who fired a 76 (+4) and is in second place on the individual leaderboard. Teammate's Kiona Hsiu, the individual champion from 2022, is in fourth place after a first-round 78 (+6) and the Tigers' Jessica Mason follows in fifth place after an opening 79 (+7).

Southwestern's Ryleigh Erickson sits atop the individual leaderboard after tying for the fourth-lowest opening round at the SCAC championships with a 74 (+2). It was the senior's career low round at the conference championship event. Following her performance, the SCAC caught up with Erickson about her opening round 74

Dallas' Kimberly Burch carded a first round 77 (+5) and sits in third place alone among the 33-person field.

Rounding out the women's first-round team standings, University of St. Thomas is third with 331 (+43), University of Dallas is in fourth place with 357 (+69), Schreiner University is fifth with a 369 (+81), Texas Lutheran University sits in sixth with a 394 (+106) and Centenary College is seventh after an opening-round 406 (+118).

St. Thomas was led by the duo of Emma Luna and Trinity Le who each shot an opening round score of 82 and are tied for sixth place along with Southwestern's Sloane Panter and Trinity's Lauren Huddleston who also opened with 82s.
