NORMAN, Okla. - The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) released the 2024 Division III PING All-American honorees Friday, and two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) men's golfers were recognized.
Trinity University’s Jacob Mason secured Second Team All-American honors, while Centenary College’s Andrew Bennett was named Third Team All-American.
This year marks the seventh-straight year, dating back to 2018, the SCAC has landed multiple athletes on the GCAA All-American squad. It is the longest such streak in SCAC history.
Mason, senior from Westminster, Colorado, is making his third straight appearance on the GCAA All-American team, elevating to the Second Team after earning Honorable Mention honors in both 2022 and 2023. He is just the second SCAC men’s golf athlete to earn three All-American honors, joining former member Centre College’s Chris Morris who accomplished the feat from 2009-2011. The Second Team honor is the highest in Trinity program history and the highest in the SCAC since Southwestern’s Cade Osgood landed on the First Team in 2020. A three-time All-SCAC performer, including First Team honors at this year’s SCAC Championship, Mason was selected to compete at last month’s NCAA Championships for the third time in his career. He finished the year as the highest ranked SCAC player in the final Clippd rankings at eight. The No. 1 ranked player in the region, Mason finished the year with three individual medalist honors, six top-three finishes and an adjusted scoring average of 70.9.
Bennett, a senior from Bossier City, La., is the first Centenary men’s golfer to earn All-American honors in the Div. III era (2013-present). Bennett, a two-time All-SCAC performer in his career, including First Team honors this year after capturing medalist honors at the 2024 SCAC Championships. Last month, he earned the first invite in Centenary men’s golf history during the Div. III era into the NCAA Championships. He finished the year ranked 11th in the country and second in the region after securing three medalist honors, four top-three finishes and an adjusted scoring average of 72.3.
