Trinity's Burns, Colorado College's Krasemann Earn SCAC Female Swimmer and Diver of the Year Honors

SUWANEE, Ga. – Trinity University’s Neely Burns repeated as the league’s female Swimmer-of-the-Year, while Colorado College’s Emma Krasemann was selected the conference’s Diver-of-the-Year based on exclusive voting by the head coaches and sports information directors of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. 2024 All-SCAC Team

Burns, a sophomore from Phoenix, Ariz., continued her dominance at the SCAC Championships, capturing gold in championship meet record times in all three of her individual events en route to being named Swimmer-of-the-Meet. She swept the individual medleys, winning the 200 in a time of 2:02.59 and the 400 in 4:21.15, and closed out the SCAC Championship by winning the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:16.46. Individually, her six SCAC titles ranks her tied for 16th all-time in conference history.

Following the SCAC Championships, Burns climbed the podium on the national stage, posting three individual All-American performances, highlighted by the conference’s first women’s national title. She opened the NCAA Championships by finishing sixth in the 200-yard IM before winning the National Title in the 400-yard IM with an SCAC open record time of 4:15.67. In total, Burns’ national title is the eighth individual title in SCAC Swimming and Diving history. She closed out her national championship meet by finishing fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with an SCAC open record time of 2:15.28. Historically, her All-American honor in the 200-yard breaststroke was her sixth individual top-eight finish, the most in SCAC women’s swimming history. Her efforts helped Trinity finish 12th as a program in the team standings at the NCAA Championships. The Tigers’ 12th-place finish marks the highest women’s finish since DePauw took home ninth in 2009.

Burns’ selection marks the eighth time in the last 11 years – and ninth overall – that a Trinity student-athlete has earned SCAC Female Swimmer of the Year honors. Burns is now the eighth swimmer in SCAC history to earn multiple female Swimmer-of-the-Year award honors.

Krasemann, a junior from Suffield, Conn., became the 11th diver in SCAC history to sweep both boards in a single championship at the 2024 SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships en route to being named Diver-of-the-Meet. She took top honors in the 3-meter with a score of 422.70 and the 1-meter with a mark of 435.85. On the national stage, Krasemann finished 13th (348.45) on the 3-meter at the NCAA Diving III Regionals. She also posted a 28th-place finish on the 1-meter (259.15) at that same meet.

Krasemann’s selection marks the first female Diver-of-the-Year award in Colorado College program history. She joins Olivia Dilorati as the only other female CC swimmer or diver to earn a major award in program history, as Dilorati took home Swimmer-of-the-Year honors in 2016.

In balloting that was conducted at the conference championship meet, the Colorado College staff – led by 18th-year head coach Anne Goodman James, along with assistant coach Jen Buffin, assistant coach Adric Arndt, and diving coach Ellen Walker - earned SCAC Women's Coaching Staff-of-the-Year honors. It marked the fifth Women's Coaching Staff-of-the-Year honor for James and ninth overall (Four Men's Coaching Staff-of-the-Year honors) in her illustrious career.
