Trinity Women Extend Lead Heading Into Final Day of 2024 SCAC Swimming & Diving Championship

Trinity leads with 745 points while Colorado College is in second with 556 points. Southwestern sits in third with 433 points.

Colorado College earned a victory on the 3-meter board early Friday afternoon when the Tigers' Emma Krasemann ended Trinity's stranglehold on the event with a winning score of 422.70 points. It marked the first win in the event for the Colorado College program, and snapped Trinity's 18-year win streak in the event. The last non-Trinity diver to win the 3-meter title was Jill Greshowak of Hendrix in 2005. Trinity's Brooklyn Fuscone was second with 399.05 points while Keller Pooley of Colorado College was third with a score of 381.55 points. 3-Meter Interview

Following the ceremony to honor the league's 45 seniors (pictured), Trinity continued to distance itself from the competition, taking top honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay to open the evening session. The quartet of Caroline Myers, Kyla Foxhoven, Emma Hagan, and Amy Benson touched the wall first in a time of 1:33.81 - good for both a new SCAC championship and open record as well as an NCAA 'B' cut. It was the Tigers' fourth win in the past five years and the program's 10th event championship in program history. As the evening's program shifted back to individual competition, Trinity's Emma Hagan earned her sixth career individual title when she won the 100-yard butterfly. She touched the wall in an NCAA 'B' cut time of 55.21 seconds, marking the first win for Trinity in this event since Mary Price took top honors at the 2012 championships. Finishing second was Hagan's teammate, Caroline Myers, who clocked a NCAA 'B' cut time of 56.00 seconds. Trinity's Neely Burns became the sixth swimmmer in league history to repeat as 400-yard IM champion when she touched the wall in a SCAC championship record and NCAA 'B' cut time of 4:21.15. It was the first time since 2019 that a swimmer repeated as champion in the event. Placing second was Erica Peterson of Trinity with a time of 4:36.12 while Erin Morie of Trinity rounded out the Tiger all-SCAC podium sweep with a time of 4:38.55. 400-Yard Individual Medley Interview

The 200-yard freestyle saw another Trinity sweep as Amy Benson clocked a winning time of 1:52.19. Teammate Audrey Jacobson was second, touching the wall in 1:52.83, and Emma Hagan was third with a time of 1:53.59. 200-Yard Freestyle Interview

In the 100-yard breast stroke, Trinity's Kyla Foxhoven touched first in a time of 1:03.92, establishing a new SCAC championship meet record and an NCAA 'B' cut. Her win also marked the first time that Trinity won the event for three consecutive years since 2004-2006. Southwestern's Antonia Leese was second, tallying a time of 1:04.42, and Colorado College's Malie Hewitt was third in a time of 1:04.99. 100-Yard Breaststroke Interview

The night's final event saw Austin College's Sammi Thiele defend her title and take top honors in the 100-yard backstroke. Thiele touched the wall in an SCAC championship meet record and NCAA 'B' cut time of 55.68 seconds. She became the first swimmer to win the event in consecutive years since McMurry's Robyn Remschel did so from 2016-2018. Ellie Samples of Southwestern was second after recording a time of 57.79 seconds and Alexis Lee of Colorado College was third with a time of 57.93 seconds. 100-Yard Backstroke Interview
