CALEB HOHMAN, UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior from Huntington, California, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, March 4 through Sunday, March 10. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 5
Hohman led the Crusaders to a series win over non-conference foe Nebraska Wesleyan as Dallas is off to its best start (12-2) since the program joined the SCAC prior to the 2012 season. Hohman batted .400, notching a hit in all three contests, going 4-for-10. He drove in five runs, scored four runs, smashed one home run and walked twice to post a .538 on-base percentage. Hohman efforts helped the Crusaders extend their win streak to 11 last week, the longest such streak for the Crusaders baseball program in the SCAC era, snapping a nine-game streak set back in 2012.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Maxwell Mims of Southwestern batted .353 (6-for-17) with one double and a home run to help the Pirates take back-to-back series wins against DeSales and LeTourneau last week. Mims had five RBI through the week, stole six bases and reached base in all five games. Senior infielder Christian Holloway of Trinity batted .400 (6-for-15) with three RBI to help the No. 17 Tigers finish the week 4-1. Senior outfielder Carson Draehn of Texas Lutheran batted .500 (4-for-8) with two RBI in a series sweep over Rensselaer. Draehn recorded a hit in every game, highlighted by a walk off RBI on Wednesday. Graduate outfielder Gerardo Cardoza of Schreiner batted .529 (9-for-17) with one double and one RBI. Cardoza collected a hit in every game, highlighted by a 3-for-5 performance with one double and one RBI in the Mountaineers’ win on Friday. Senior utility Austyn Benoit of Centenary batted .500 (8-for-16) with two doubles and five RBI over the week.
