ZACH SEIGRIST OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEXAS), a graduate centerfielder from Beaumont, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week of the Week for games played from Friday, February 7 through Sunday, February 9. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 1
Seigrist set the tone as the leadoff hitter for the Tornados in the season-opening series sweep against Howard Payne, going 8-for-14 (.571) at the plate with a .929 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage while posting team-bests of seven runs scored and two stolen bases. With the Tornados trailing in game one by a score of 6-3 in the bottom of the eighth, Seigrist led the rally with a two-out, RBI-double, helping complete the comeback with a 7-6 win in the 11th. In game two, Seigrist belted a leadoff homer to left field and later collected an RBI-double down the left field line en route to the 15-2 victory. In the series finale, Seigrist remained consistent as he went 3-for-5 with three runs scored in the 15-5 triumph.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year leftfielder Brody Hebert of Centenary had an impressive start to his collegiate career as the rookie was hit a pair of home runs to go along with his .444 batting average, .583 on-base percentage and 1.111 slugging percentage as he helped lead the Gents to a 2-1 mark in the "Gents Classic" against LaGrange, Huntingdon, and Rhodes. Hebert totaled three RBI, scored two runs, walked three times, and stole a base. He hit a solo home run against LaGrange on Saturday in Centenary's season opener and then belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning on Sunday against Huntingdon which proved to be the game-winner in a 2-1 Centenary win. Junior third baseman Riley Hood of McMurry hit .545 (6-for-11) with one double, four RBI and an on-base percentage of .625. He walked three times and was hit by pitch once as the War Hawks opened the 2025 campaign with three wins. Senior first baseman Caleb Hohman of Dallas delivered a highly efficient performance over three games, demonstrating disciplined plate appearances and clutch hitting. Against UT-Dallas, Hohman batted .333 with a stout .500 on-base percentage, consistently setting the table for the team. He two doubles, which contributed to an impressive .667 slugging percentage. Adding a stolen base without being caught and zero strikeouts highlighted his smart base running and disciplined approach at the plate.
