SUWANEE, Ga. – Concordia University (Tex.) outfielder Zach Seigrist and Texas Lutheran University second baseman Cooper Jen were named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for performances the week of March 10-16.
Seigrist, a graduate student from Beaumont, Texas, made history with the program's first ever cycle in a 15-14 victory over DeSales, including the go-ahead two-RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth. In a week where the Tornadoes went 5-0, Seigrist went 11-24 (.458) with a team-best 14 RBIs to go along with 10 runs, five walks and six extra base hits (three doubles, two homers, one triple).
Jen, a first-year from Kyle, Texas, started all five games at second base last week leading the Bulldogs to a 4-1 record, including a sweep of Dallas in a road SCAC conference series. Jen led the Bulldogs offensively, hitting .381 (8-for-21) with three homers, two doubles, a triple, 12 RBI, and 10 runs scored over the five-game week. Jen's performance was highlighted by hitting for the cycle in game two of the series against Dallas on Saturday.
The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its 14th season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors.
The selections for Seigrist and Jen are the fifth and sixth different SCAC individuals this season to earn D3baseball.com Team of the Week honors.
