GIANA HILLIARD OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore outside hitter on the women's volleyball team from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning January 20.
The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.
A two-time All-SCAC performer, including being selected the league's Freshman of the Year in 2023, Gianna is involved in numerous organizations on campus. In addition to being a member of the women's volleyball team, she also serves as a Mountaineer Mentor, a SAAC event coordinator, an intramural referee, and a Dickey Hall peer tutor.
Of her different roles on campus, she excels in making sure all students on campus are transitioned comfortably into college, as well as showing students different ways to get involved in campus and community.
After graduating, Gianna plans to use her Exercise Science degree to be a coach or a personal trainer for athletes all over the state.
