Trinity's Benson, Colorado College's Krasemann Make a Splash with SCAC Year-End Awards

SUWANEE, Ga. – Trinity University’s Amy Benson was selected as the league’s female Swimmer-of-the-Year, while Colorado College’s Emma Krasemann repeated as the conference’s Diver-of-the-Year based on exclusive voting by the head coaches and sports information directors of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. 2025 All-SCAC Team

Benson, a sophomore from Newmarket, N.H., continued her dominance at the SCAC Championships, capturing gold in all three of her individual events en route to being named Swimmer-of-the-Meet. She swept the short distance freestyle events, winning the 50 free in 23.31, 100 free in 50.58 and the 200 free in 1:50.88. Her winning time in the 200 free is the fastest in SCAC Championship history, while her 50 and 100 free times are tied for second fastest and third fastest, respectively, in championship meet history. She made history at this year’s SCAC Championship meet, sweeping the 50, 100 and 200 free for the second consecutive year, making her the only swimmer in league history to have accomplished that feat in back-to-back championships. Individually, her six SCAC titles are tied for 17th all-time in conference history.

Following the SCAC Championships, Benson shined on the national stage making her second-straight appearance at the Division III NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. She turned in a trio of top 30 individual finishes, highlighted by an All-American performance in the 50-yard freestyle. Benson took 15th in the event with a time of 23.34 to earn Honorable Mention All-American accolades. It marked her second-straight AA honor in the event and third AA honor overall in her career. Benson also placed 19th (50.80) in the 100-yard freestyle and 28th (1:51.98) in the 200-yard freestyle. Her efforts helped Trinity finish 25th as a program in the team standings at the 2025 national meet, securing the program’s fourth-straight top 25 finish.

Benson’s selection marks the ninth time in the last 12 years – and 10th overall – that a Trinity student-athlete has earned SCAC Female Swimmer of the Year honors.

Krasemann, a senior from Suffield, Conn., earned SCAC Diver-of-the-Meet honors for the second straight year, finishing in first place on the 3-meter board (430.00) and second on the 1-meter board to teammate Keller Pooley at this year's championship meet. Her win in the 3-meter marked her second consecutive win in the event, making her the ninth diver in league history to earn back-to-back titles on the 3-meter board and the first since Trinity's Katarina Partalas in 2021 and 2022.

Krasemann was also the top SCAC finisher at the NCAA Diving III Regionals on the 3-meter board and the second-best finisher in the league on the 1-meter board. She finished 12th on the 3-meter with a score of 366.55 and 18th on the 1-meter with a mark of 344.45.

Krasemann’s selection marks the eighth time in SCAC history an athlete has repeated as SCAC Female Diver-of-the-Year.

Additionally, in an announcement that was made at the close of the championship meet, the Trinity University staff - led by fourth-year head coach Cathleen Pruden, along with assistant coaches Mabel Fowler and George Black and diving coach Tommy Law - earned SCAC Women's Coaching Staff-of-the-Year honors. It marked the second Women’s Coaching Staff-of-the-Year honor for Pruden (2022-23) and third overall (2021-22 Men's Coaching Staff-of-the-Year) since she took over prior to the 2021-22 season.
