BOSSIER CITY, La. -- In an announcement made at Saturday's championship meet, Southwestern Univeristy's Brian Armijo was named the recipient of the 2024 SCAC Men's Cross Country Elite 19 award.
The SCAC Elite 19 is awarded annually to the student-athlete who has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA, at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and earns All-SCAC honors for that particular season.
Armijo, a senior from Albuquerque, N.M., who is Biochemistry & Mathematics major, currently holds a 4.000 GPA and finished 10th at this year's SCAC Cross Country Championship meet -the second time in his career he has earned all-SCAC honors after finishing ninth at the 2022 championships.
The first Southwestern cross country runner to earn SCAC Elite 19 honors, Armijo's selection marks the 26th time a Southwestern student-athlete has earned the league's highest honor in his/her sport, tying Colorado College for the most by any one program since the inception of the award prior to the 2018-19 academic year.
