Trinity Women Earn Ninth Title in 10 Years at SCAC Track & Field Championships

SEGUIN, Texas - Trinity University separated from the field on the third and final day of the 2025 SCAC Women's Track and Field Championship, earning the program's ninth title in 10 years and 17th overall Sunday afternoon on the campus of Texas Lutheran University. Official Website | Results | Event PhotosAwards Photos

After two days of a back-and-forth battle with SCAC newcomer McMurry University for the top spot on the leaderboard, the Tigers' depth proved to be the deciding factor and Trinity finished the meet with 191 points, 27.5 points clear of McMurry who ended their first SCAC championship with 163.5 points. Colorado College, the defending champion of the event, surged on Sunday to close the gap between second and third and finished with 155 points.

McMurry sophomore Kendra Humphries earned SCAC Female Athlete of the Meet honors, earning first place in both the shot put and javelin and sixth place in both the discus and hammer for 26 points.

Seven conference records were established over the course of the weekend, including five on Sunday.

Trinity ended up with a meet-high 16 medals, followed by Colorado College and McMurry with 15 each. McMurry had the most gold with seven while Trinity led in both silver (seven) and bronze (six) - tied with CC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Colorado College senior Isabel Olson (watch post race interview) defended her title in the 5,000 meters, taking gold with a finishing time of 17:47.25 - the fourth-fastest performance in the SCAC championship meet history. Olson is the first back-to-back winner in the 5,000 since Vanessa Moreno of Trinity earned three consecutive titles from 2012 to 2014. CC runners swept the awards podium in the event for the fourth consecutive year as junior Alison Mueller-Hickler earned her second consecutive runner-up finish in the event with a time of 17:50.80 and her teammate senior Sydney Rankin, the 5K runner-up in 2023, took third place with a finishing time of 17:57.61. 
  • In the pole vault, McMurry sophomore Brenna Stell (watch post race interview) cleared 12' 3 1/4" (3.74 meters), winning gold and establishing a new SCAC championship meet record in the process. The former mark of 12' 2 3/4" had been set at the 2019 meet by Trinity's Mia Loseff. Stell's teammate, first-year Madeline Sumien, took silver with a clearance of 11' 5" (3.48 meters) and Trinity freshman Addison Doss placed third, also clearing 11' 5" (3.48 meters), but with more misses.
  • Tori Colman of McMurry (watch post race interview) earned top podium honors in the discus, taking down another SCAC meet record in the process. The sophomore reached 142' 1" (43.30 meters) with her winning toss, eclipsing the former conference meet record of 139' 7", which was set in 2014 by Texas Lutheran's Kristyna Landry. Trinity junior Madeleine Seabolt was second with a toss of 125' 9" (38.24 meters) and her teammate, sophomore Rachel Bell, was third with an effort of 125' 9" (38.33 meters).
  • With the completion of the field events, the competition returned to the track in the late morning, with the first relay of the meet bringing the the best 4x100 teams to the blocks. The St. Thomas quartet of first-year Quadetra Wilburn, junior Trinity Provost, senior Kaela Sawyers and senior Ny'Cierra Hinton (watch post race interview) took top honors, scorching around the track in a new SCAC meet record time of 46.99 and breaking the former mark of 47.66 set by Texas Lutheran just a year ago. Trinity earned second place with a time of 47.77 and McMurry was third in 49.01.
  • After finishing as runner-up a year ago, Colorado College senior Isabel Olson (watch post race interview) earned gold this year in the 1,500 meters, hitting the tape at 4:35.63 and breaking the league's championship mark of 4:36.75 which had been shared by Heather Stone of Sewanee (2000) and Lauren Reich of DePauw (2010), who is currently an assistant at Trinity. Olson's teammate sophomore Allison Barker was second in 4:41.05 and Trinity junior Josette Gurule finished third at 4:42.27.
  • Trinity senior Danya Selber (watch post race interview) used a late lean at the tape to edge McMurry senior Naj Campbell by one hundredth of a second, 14.15 to 14.16, and take top honors in the 100 meter hurdles. Selber had set the new conference meet record in prelims the day before when she posted the first sub-14 second time in league history (13.96). McMurry freshman Annikah Frank finished third in a time of 14.81.
  • After finishing in third in 2023 and runner-up a year ago, junior Clara Lippert of Colorado College (watch post race interview) took top honors in the 400 meters this season, earning gold with a finishing time of 57.62. St. Thomas senior Christina Stinson was second in 58.92 and Texas Lutheran sophomore Kathryn Kostelnik was third with a time of 59.46.
  • St. Thomas first-year Quadetra Wilburn (watch post race interview) posted the second-fastest time in SCAC history in the 100 meters, hitting the tape at 12.00, to earn gold in the event. Teammate junior Trinity Provost was second in 12.01 and Trinity first-year Nia Scott finished third in a time of 12.08.
  • Colorado College junior Ella Fullerton (watch post race interview) made it three-for-three in her career, taking the 800 meter run for the third consecutive year, this year with a finishing time of 2:14.36. With the victory, Fullerton becomes just the fifth woman in league history to win the 800 three or more times in her career at the conference meet. Sophomore Annette Smith of Trinity was second in 2:15.21 and CC sophomore Allison Barker finished third with a time of 2:16.41.
  • Senior Arden Neff of Southwestern (watch post race interview) capped her career with her fourth straight victory in the 400 meter hurdles, breaking the tape this year in an SCAC record time of 1:01.17, knocking off the former mark of 1:01.85 which was set by Molly Buck of Rhodes in 2011. Trinity senior Danya Selber was second with a time of 1:03.97 and McMurry senior Naj Campbell finished third in 1:05.57.
  • In the final individual event of the afternoon, St. Thomas junior Trinity Provost (watch post race interview) secured the top spot on the podium for the second consecutive year in the 200 meters with a winning time of 24.88. Her time in the fourth fastest in SCAC Track Meet history and the fastest winning time since 2017. She is the ninth athlete in conference history to repeat as champion in the 200-meter dash. Trinity’s Annabella Lanik finished second with a time of 25.25 and Colorado College’s Clara Lippert claimed bronze, crossing the line in 25.56.
  • In the final race of the meet, St. Thomas earned its first-ever win the 4x400 relay - led by the foursome of sophomore Grace Pearson, junior Trinity Provost, first-year Lexie Allred Rojas and sophomore Selest Edwards (watch post race interview) - and took gold with a time of 3:59.41. Colorado College placed second with a time of 3:59.76 and Trinity was third to the line in 4:00.35.
