CLAREMONT, Calif. –The No. 25-ranked Trinity University Men's Tennis team closed out a strong postseason campaign with a 4-0 loss to top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the NCAA Division III round three on Friday afternoon.
CMS took control early by securing the doubles point. At line one, Rocco Mendez and Kishan Kersten dropped their match 6-3. At line two, Aashish Dhanani and Eric Liao also fell 6-3, giving CMS the early lead. The match at line three, featuring Jared Perry and Conor Kaczmarczyk, was left unfinished with the Tigers trailing 5-4.
In singles play, Perry fell 6-4, 6-4 at line one, while Mendez was defeated 6-2, 6-2 at line two. Ryan Warren put up a fight at line three but ultimately lost 6-2, 7-6(5), clinching the match for CMS.
The remaining singles matches were left unfinished but showcased tight competition. Kersten had just forced a third set at line four, Liao was in a deep second-set battle at line five, and Roshin Kamath was heading into a deciding set at line six.
Despite the loss, Trinity's postseason run highlighted the team's resilience and talent, ending the year among the top programs in the country.
