SCAC Reveals 2025 All-Conference Softball Selections

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- In exclusive 2025 All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) voting by the league's head coaches and sports information directors, Kylie Kirk of Concordia University (Texas) and Annie Kay of Texas Lutheran University shared Player-of-the-Year honors, while Amanda White of TLU was tabbed as Pitcher-of-the-Year is was announced on Friday. Complete Release

In the same balloting, Concordia’s Malarie Mican was named the conference’s Newcomer-of-the-Year, while Texas Lutheran head coach Wade Wilson and the Bulldog staff earned SCAC Staff-of-the-Year honors.

 As for the composition of the All-SCAC team, Trinity led with seven combined selections (First/Second Team), while Concordia, St. Thomas and Texas Lutheran followed closely with six, including a league high five First Team Bulldog honorees.    

Kirk, a sophomore utility player from Liberty Hill, Texas has put together one of the most dynamic seasons of recent memory in the SCAC sitting at the top of several of both hitting and pitching statistical categories heading into this weekend’s conference tournament. At the plate, Kirk currently sits in the top five in the SCAC in batting average (.437 – 5th), home runs (6 – T2nd), triples (4 – T4th), RBI (37 – 3rd), doubles (13 – 3rd) and slugging percentage (.796 – 2nd). Kirk has scored 32 runs on the season, currently eighth-most in the SCAC, while her 45 total hits and .488 on-base percentage both sit 11th in the league going into the weekend. In the circle, Kirk has been equally impressive, currently ranked tied for second in complete games (12), fourth in wins (11), fifth in strikeouts (76), eighth in ERA (2.49) and ninth in both innings pitched (81.2) and WHIP (1.27). In total, Kirk is currently ranked top-10 or better in 14 different hitting and pitching categories. Kirk is the first player since former member Rhodes’ Sara Bowen in 2011 to reach 35 plus RBI at the plate and 75 plus strikeouts in the circle. 

Kay, a junior outfielder from Sinton, Texas, who is making her second-straight appearances in the First Team All-Conference squad, is currently ranked in the top two of nearly every statistical category heading into this weekend’s conference tournament. She is first in the SCAC with a .496 batting average, currently tied for 18th in all of NCAA Division III. Her 59 hits are tops in the league and currently tied for 13th in the nation, while her 55 stolen bases are good enough for both second in the SCAC and the country. Kay also currently sits second in the SCAC with 48 runs scored (T10th in NCAA) and a .544 on-base percentage. Historically, her .496 batting average would be the fifth best single season batting average in the history of the SCAC, while her 55 stolen bases is currently the sixth best in a single season in conference history. Additionally, Kay has driven in 30 runs to this point in the season, the seventh most in the SCAC and her 119 at-bats is tied for the eighth most this year. On the year, Kay has hit safely in 33 of her 38 games played, including 20 multi-hit performances and enters the conference tournament riding a 16-game hit streak.

Kirk and Kay each received 10 votes in the SCAC Player-of-the-Year balloting, while junior catcher/utility player Chloe Bennett of St. Thomas received the remaining two first-place votes.

White, a senior right-hander from Lockhart, Texas is making her debut on the All-SCAC First Team en route to being named SCAC Pitcher-of-the-Year. She leads the league in ERA (0.64), WHIP (0.94) and Saves (5) and is second in the league in wins (19), strikeouts (82), innings pitched (120.1) and opponents’ batting average (.172). Nationally, she is one of just two pitchers in the country with a perfect 1.000 winning percentage and at-least 15 wins, while her 0.64 ERA is currently second best in all of NCAA Division III. Her 19 wins are currently tied for the 11th most in a single season in SCAC history, while her ERA would be the sixth best single season in conference history. Historically, White’s career ERA of 1.13 is the fifth best in SCAC history, while her current winning percentage of .870 (40-6) is the fifth best winning percentage in league history. White has nine complete games on the season, fifth most in the SCAC, and has fielded her position perfectly with a 1.000 fielding percentage and no errors.

White’s selection marks the 10th time in the last 11 seasons a TLU Bulldog has earned SCAC Pitcher-of-the-Year accolades. She picked up 15 first-place votes in the balloting with St. Thomas’ Victoria Sossaman earning the final seven votes.  

Mican has been outstanding in her first year with the Tornados. A junior from Weimar, Texas, Mican leads the SCAC in walks (23) and on-base percentage (.547) leading into the SCAC Tournament. She is third in stolen bases (37), tied for fourth in both triples (3) and hits (46) and her 43 runs scored is good enough for fifth currently in the league. This season, Mican has hit safely in 25 of her 37 games played with an impressive 13 multi-hit efforts and enters the SCAC Tournament riding a five-game hit streak.

Mican received 12 first-place votes in the balloting for Newcomer-of-the-Year. St. Thomas’ Samantha Crumrin collected two first-place votes, Austin College’s Reagan Brinkley and Trinity’s Mariana Garcia each received two first-place votes, while Centenary’s Kaitlynn Alello and Dallas’ Keely Mathis rounded out the voting with one vote each.

After guiding the Bulldogs to a 11th consecutive SCAC regular season crown and the No. 1 overall seed heading into this weekend’s conference tournament, the Texas Lutheran coaching staff was selected as the SCAC Staff-of-the-Year. Head coach Wade Willson, who is in his 14th season at TLU and has guided this program to another regular season championship this season after successfully leading the Bulldogs to nine of the last 10 Tournament Titles. This year’s squad earned its 11th regular season title with a 29-1 conference mark and is currently ranked fourth in the nation with a 37-1 record. Over the last 13 years, few head coaches have been as successful as Wilson. Since joining the SCAC prior to the 2014 season, he has led the Bulldogs to an overall record of 492-93 and an incredible 240-8 conference mark, winning SCAC games at a .968 clip. The 240 SCAC victories are the most by any coach in league history. This is the ninth SCAC Staff-of-the-Year (Coach) honor for Wilson and 10th overall as he was honored by the ASC in 2013 before earning the award in nine of the last 11 seasons in the SCAC.
