JOSH WERNER OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior right-handed pitcher on the baseball team from Missouri City, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning March 10.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Josh is on the leadership team of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and is also the Statistician for the Financial Analyst Program (FAP) - part of the school's selective student-managed investment program which currently manages a $2.5 million portfolio. As the group's statistician, Josh is involved in doing monthly write-ups of various statistics and calculations of stocks and portfolio as a whole, and then reporting his findings to the group. Those in the program, in both groups and individually, recommend stocks for the FAP to buy that then goes to a vote on whether the program should invest in the recommended stock(s).

Josh is also a part of three other bible studies off campus, Chunch (Church lunch) bible study (that meets every Sunday), College at the Stone bible study (who meets every Monday), and every Tuesday is leading at Tuesday night worship.

Recently, Josh has been working for Five Tool Baseball as an Analytical Lead Assistant. His responsibility, and more so the goal of the company, is to run travel ball and high school baseball tournaments and showcases while also providing an avenue to get players recognized and the opportunity to play at the collegiate level. His current role includes doing write ups to detail standout players and publishing daily/weekly articles on them.

During his time at Southwestern, Josh has created and ran his own website called Curveball Chronicles where he publishes analytical and story-telling type articles on a weekly basis.

Upon graduation in May, Josh plans to try and pursue playing baseball at the Independent League level, and if unsuccessful, continue his current role with Five Tool Baseball. If tha tis the case, he plans to seek opportunities and jobs within the professional baseball industry; trying to find roles that align with his analytical and other interests around the game of baseball.
