Koke Dolce, Concordia University (Texas), Men's Golf - Character & Community

KOKE DOLCE OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEXAS), a senior on the men's golf team from Spicewood, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning April 7.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Koke Dolce is a senior at Concordia (Texas) majoring in Business. As a member of the CTX Golf team and a leader for FCA at CTX, Koke has already made a significant impact both on and off the field, embodying the values of leadership, community, and faith that define the CTX experience. In this interview, Koke shares the reasons he chose CTX to pursue his academic and athletic dreams.

“I actually transferred from a school in West Virginia,” Dolce says. “When I first toured Concordia, I loved the family atmosphere and all the community that came with it. I also loved coach Landry and his vision he had for the team.”

Koke’s perspective of leadership has been influenced by his experience as a student-athlete at CTX. “My coaches really gave me a new love for the game. Coach Landry was a huge instrument that helped me really find a new love for the game that I had kind of lost for a bit” he explains. “All of my coaches gave me a new perspective on the game, gave me new ways to practice and just overall a new experience with golf. My teammates have really grown me in my faith, especially some of my current teammates and my senior leaders when I was a sophomore helped mold me into the player and leader I am today.”

At Concordia, Koke takes on many leadership roles both on and off the golf course. “I’m one of the huddle leaders for FCA and I’m involved in College Golf Fellowship” he shares.

Koke’s response when asked how he defines leadership reflects his faith-based leadership. “I’d say that leadership is looking out for other people and not just yourself” he says. “Making sacrifices to your own time or your own personal struggles to help out others is what a leader should do.”

So far, Koke’s time at Concordia University Texas has been marked by faith, growth, and the commitment to his team. He continues to drive into opportunities to lead, whether through academics, or through faith.
