Carolyn Dormady, Colorado College, Women's Volleyball - Character & Community

CAROLYN DORMADY OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior outside hitter on the women's volleyball team from Los Altos, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning November 4.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Carolyn has been a driving force for the CC women’s volleyball team, currently leading the team and SCAC in kills for the 2024 season. Her on-court success continues from the 2023 season when she was named Second-Team All-SCAC.

Beyond her athletic achievements, Carolyn is deeply dedicated to community involvement. She has contributed time to organizations like, the Food Bank of Colorado Springs, Habitat for Humanity, and TESSA. Additionally, Carolyn has taken on a role as a facilitator with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), supervising visitations for court-ordered parents and ensuring children and their advocates receive the support and resources they need.

Fueled by her passion for advocating for marginalized communities, Carolyn spent the past summer working at the San Francisco Superior Court’s access center, helping individuals without legal representation in navigating the complexities of the legal system.

“I want to be a lawyer, so this experience was truly valuable and a great way to give back,” Dormady said. “I’ve realized how much more there is to being a student athlete and I realize that I want my impact to be more than what I leave on the court.”
