St. Thomas Takes Six Shot Lead Into Final Round of SCAC Men's Golf Championship

Tuesday's third and final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT on the par-72, 7,014-yard layout with the leaders teeing off at 9:50 a.m.

The 49th-ranked Celts will attempt to complete the wire-to-wire victory on Tuesday, which would be the program's second conference title in the last three years. Led by senior Cameron Curtis (pictured), who fired a 2-under par 70 (the second-lowest score of the day) to pace three St. Thomas players in the top 10. Curtis holds a one-shot lead heading into Tuesday's final round with a cumulative score of 146 (+2). First-round leader senior Marshall Hatcher and sophomore Antonio Ramirez are tied for fourth, both with two day totals of 151. Hatcher backed up his opening round 73 with a 78 while Ramirez improved upon his first round 76 with a 75 on Monday.

St. Thomas leads second-place Trinity by six shots after following Sunday's opening round 304 with a second round 301 to total 605 (+29) heading into tomorrow's final round. The last St. Thomas led the SCAC championships after two rounds was in 2023, which was also the last time the tournament ended with the Celts hoisting the conference hardware.

The Trinity University men fired the low round of the day, totaling 296 to shave five strokes off St. Thomas' lead heading into Tuesday. The Tigers are at 611 (+35) - led by junior Carter Code who is in second place with a two-day total of 147 (74-73), one shot behind the leader Curtis. Junior Neel Sandhu backed his first round 75 with a 77 and is tied for eighth at 152 (+8). 

University of Dallas is in third place and leads a pack of five schools within nine shots of each other. The Crusaders have produced rounds of 321 and 305 and are at 626 (+50) with Tuesday's final round yet to play. Dallas junior Iain Griggs lept eight places up the leaderboard to third after firing the low round of the day (and the tournament) with his second round 69 and sits at 148 (+4) for the championship. His teammate senior Rex Soulliere is tied for fourth with a 151 (78-73).  

Concordia University (Texas) is two shots behind Dallas (326-302--628). The Tornados have been paced by juniors Parker Smith (76-75--151) and Kaden English (83-71--154), who are currently tied for fourth and tied for 10th, respectively, on the individual leaderboard. English was one of four players who shot under par on Monday.

McMurry University and defending champion Schreiner University are tied for fifth after both teams have fired identical rounds of 324 and 307 for a 631 (+55). Texas Lutheran University is in seventh with a 635 (+59). Southwestern University sits in eighth with a 637 (+61) and Centenary College is ninth with a 659 (+83).
