Trinity University, who finished with a perfect 10-0-0 league mark and 30 points, have been the top seed 13 times since the conference reinstated a postseason soccer tournament prior to the 2011 season. The Tigers posted their 15th umblemished SCAC regular season in the last 16 years and 27th in program history. The defending championships of this event, Trinity has won 13 of the last 14 SCAC women's soccer tournaments. Texas Lutheran University posted a 8-2-0 conference mark for 24 points (12-5-1 overall) to secure the second seed in this weekend's conference tournament. The Bulldogs ended the regular season on a five-match winning streak, including a 1-0 shutout of Concordia (Texas) in the regular season finale.
Two teams tied at 7-2-1 and 22 points, but Concordia University (Texas) earned the seed nod in its inaugural season in the SCAC over Southwestern University by virtue of its 2-0 road victory over the Pirates on Friday. As the third seed, Concordia (9-7-2 overall) will take on Texas Lutheran in the tournament's second semifinal - a rematch from Sunday's regular season finale that TLU won 1-0.
Southwestern (9-6-2 overall), who will be the fourth seed at this year's event, is making its 13th consecutive post season appearance, which has included six title game appearances. The Pirates, who were defeated 1-0 by Trinity in last year's championship match, secured the program's only tournament championship in 2019.
For the second consecutive year, the men's and women's soccer tournament will be played at the same site and SaberCats Stadium in Houston will once again serve as host of this year’s event. This year's championship is scheduled to open on Friday, November 8 at Noon CT when No. 1 Trinity takes on No. 4 Southwestern in the opening semifinal fixture. The second semifinal is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT between No. 2 Texas Lutheran and No. 3 Concordia (Texas). The two semifinal winners will meet on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
