AUDRY HORNADAY OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior guard on the women's basketball team from Mission, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning October 21.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

While Audry's journey started at Texas A&M International, she has quickly ingratiated herself within the TLU community over her two years as a Bulldog whether it be as a mainstay at on campus events or volunteering within the community.

Volunteer work is not new to Audry as her volunteer journey started as young as six years old volunteering at the Texas Oncology Center from 2008-2011 and continued through high school as she volunteered at Vannie Cook Children’s Hospital in McAllen.

Audry has used her on court talent as one of the SCAC’s most lethal three-point shooters to give back to her community back home by volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in Laredo and hosting free basketball camps in her community.

Since transferring to TLU, she’s been able to use her talents to help on an even bigger stage by working alongside the San Antonio Spurs across several different initiatives including the Spurs Sports Academy, Jr. NBA, Spurs Impact, the Spurs Youth Basketball Clinic and more as she utilizes basketball as a way to give back to the community.

Audry also worked in collaboration with the Children’s Behavioral Center to host a basketball clinic in Uvalde. She has also done community service alongside her teammates at the Eden Cross Senior Living Community and Habitat for Humanity in Seguin.

When asked about her community service work Hornaday stated, “I've always wanted to help people. Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to make a difference in the world, and being able to connect with others and make a difference in their world means everything to me. I love making people feel seen and loved, even if I’ve barely met them. My community service efforts are more than just that, to me my inspirations are to make people feel like they belong, to make an impact on them, and to make a difference.”

Audry has been a ray of sunshine since transferring to TLU. She has been a committed public servant that always has a smile on her face with a selfless attitude willing to put others before herself with an endearing personality. She’s brought out the best in her team and the TLU campus as an embodiment of positivity and public service.
