LANDON HYLE OF CONCORDIA UNIVERITY (TEX.), a junior outfielder from Georgetown, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week of the Week for games played from Monday, February 17 through Sunday, February 23. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 3
Hyle was outstanding at the plate in lifting the Tornados to a three-game sweep over Schreiner. Hyle posted a .500 batting average, going 5-for-10 in the series with eight RBI, four runs scored and one stolen base. He registered multiple RBI in each game, highlighted by three in game two of the series. Hyle finished the weekend with a .530 on-base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First year outfielder Brody Hebert of Centenary had a monster performance in the Diamond Gents' 18-6 win over Austin College on Saturday as he finished 4-for-4 with six RBI and three runs scored. Hebert belted a solo home run in the seventh inning which was preceded by a two-run single in the first and an RBI single in the third before he capped his performance with another two-RBI single in the eighth. He also stole two bases and walked once. Senior infielder Caleb Hohman of Dallas belted a pair of home runs in game three of the Crusaders three-game series against McMurry and finished the weekend with six RBI, six runs scored and a .818 slugging percentage. Junior catcher Michael Smosna of McMurry led the War Hawks to an SCAC series win over Dallas, batting .545 (6-for-11) with six RBI, five runs scored and three stolen bases. Smosna also drew five walks to post an impressive .688 on-base percentage and finished with a .727 slugging percentage. Junior outfielder Taber Childs of Ozarks led the Eagles to three non-conference wins at homes last weekend, knocking off Principia twice and Vermont State Castleton. Childs hit .500 (6-for-12) with three extra base hits, five RBI, six runs scored and one walk to post a .571 on-base percentage. Senior catcher James Vaquero of Southwestern hit .556 (5-for-9) in a pair of games last weekend against SCAC foe St. Thomas. Vaquero scored twice, registered two doubles and drove in one run while posting a .778 slugging percentage. Senior catcher Chance Greene of Texas Lutheran went 3-for-5 (.600) with two RBI and one run scored in two games against Trinity on Sunday for the Bulldogs. Senior catcher Nicholas Lazzara of Trinity led the Tigers to an SCAC doubleheader sweep at Texas Lutheran on Sunday, winning 21-7 and 6-5. Lazzara batted .714 (5-for-7) with five runs scored and two RBI. He hit two doubles among his five hits and also drew three walks, pushing his OBP to .800 and his slugging to 1.000 for the day.
