KALEN CLARK OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEXAS), a senior first baseman/outfielder from Coppell, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week of the Week for games played from Monday, March 24 through Sunday, March 30. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 8

Clark was explosive at the plate for the Tornados in the series sweep over Austin College last weekend. Clark posted team-highs of seven runs, six RBI, six hits, two doubles, and two home runs. Clark also boasted a .545 batting average (1.273 SLUG) and an .615 on-base percentage. Clark hammered first-inning home runs in games one and two to put CTX up early in both games. Tallying two hits and at least one extra base hit in each of the three games, Clark recorded a season-high four runs scored in game two. In the series finale, he collected three RBI to cap off the dominant weekend. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First year outfielder Blaine Birkelbach of Centenary was red-hot for the Diamond Gents last week in four games and especially over the weekend as he helped secure a series win over Ozarks as he hit .467 (7-15) for the week with two RBI, four runs scored, two BB, and four stolen bases. Birkelbach, who finished with a .529 OBP and slugged .667, had a trio of multi-hit games and had a double and a triple. Sophomore outfielder Conner Reed of Ozarks led the Eagles at the plate last week, hitting .357 (5-for-14), with three RBI, two stolen bases and one run scored in a three-game series against Centenary. Junior outfielder Kash Durkin of Texas Lutheran hit a scorching .545 on the weekend with six RBI including a 4-for-4, four RBI day in the series finale to lead the Bulldogs to a sweep of Southwestern. Durkin finished the week with four runs scored, three doubles, three walks, one stolen base and a .667 on-base percentage. Senior utility player Kai Tinker of Trinity led the Tigers to a 2-1 record and a SCAC weekend series road win at Dallas. Tinker batted .545 (6-for-11) with four runs scored and six RBI for the weekend, with half of his hits being doubles. He opened the series with a 3-for-5 performance in which he scored two runs, then he had two hits and two RBI in the second game of the doubleheader. Tinker wrapped up the series by reaching base three times, scoring twice and driving in three runs two account for nearly half of the team's run total in the game.
