Squalls had a huge weekend as the 'Roos took two of three on the road against Schreiner, batting .417 with a .500 on-base percentage and a 1.083 slugging percentage. The sophomore had five hits in the series, including a triple and two home runs, and drove in six runs while scoring five. He also had a stolen base and drew two walks while posting a perfect fielding percentage from his starting spot in right field.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year outfielder Kale Lackey of Schreiner went 8-for-13 at the plate (.615) with six runs scored and seven RBIs for the Mountaineers this week. Among his eight hits, Lackey had one double and two home runs, posting a 1.154 slugging percentage for the week. Junior outfielder Colby Christian of Concordia (Texas) was fantastic at the plate for the Tornados. In total, Christian batted .500 (.857 slugging percentage) with a .467 on-base percentage. In a midweek matchup against Hardin-Simmons, Christian went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. In game one against Southwestern, he added one run, one RBI and a stolen base. He then exploded for a season-high five RBIs in game two against the Pirates where he went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, including a two-RBI, inside-the-park homerun. Junior outfielder Kash Durkin of Texas Lutheran hit three home runs in four games this week and combined for six runs batted in as the Bulldogs posted a 3-1 record on the week. Durkin leads the SCAC and is third in the nation with six homers on the season. Sophomore outfielder Kaleb Woodward of Trinity led the eighth-ranked Tigers to a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series sweep of McMurry, capped by a dramatic ninth-inning comeback on Sunday afternoon. Woodward batted .417 (5-for-12) for the three-game series and also drew a pair of walks to post an on-base percentage of .500 over the weekend. Trinity had relatively quiet wins on Friday (5-2) and Saturday (5-1), but trailed by three runs heading into the bottom of the ninth of the final game. The Tigers rallied to within a run when Woodward came up with the bases loaded, driving in a pair of runs to win the game - and sweep the series - with a walk-off single to right-center field. Junior catcher Michael Smosna of McMurry went 8-for-12 (.667) with four doubles, a triple and a home run among his eight hits in the War Hawks' three game series against Trinity. He also scored four runs, drove in a run and stole a base. Senior catcher James Vaquero of Southwestern hit .500 on the weekend (5-for-10) with four runs scored and three runs driven in. He was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI in Saturday's 13-2 victory over Concordia (Texas). Junior infielder Joseph Coon of Ozarks recorded a .385 batting average with six RBIs against Texas Lutheran. Coon opened the series with a three-RBI performance that helped the Eagles to a win and then followed with two more RBI in game two. He ended the series with an RBI and two hits.
