GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The second-seeded and 20th-ranked Southwestern University women made quick work of seventh-seeded Austin College, defeating the 'Roos 5-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Championship quarterfinals Thursday afternoon on the Pirates' home courts. Southwestern improved its record to 17-4 and will face third-seeded Colorado College at 3 pm Saturday afternoon in the semifinals. Austin College finishes the 2023 campaign with a 2-13 record.
A pair of 8-1 doubles wins, paired with walkovers at No. 3 doubles as well as No. 6 singles, left Southwestern needing just one win at singles to clinch and advance.
Lauren Chisholm provided that point in quick fashion, earning the 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Karina Alvarez to propel the Pirates to the next round.

Southwestern University advances to face the winner of third-seeded Colorado College in Saturday's first women's semifinal. This will be Southwestern's seventh straight trip to the conference semifinals (the 2020 championships were canceled) and the 10th meeting between the two schools in SCAC tournament play. The Pirates hold a 6-3 edge over the Tigers, including a 5-0 victory in last year's semifinal round.
