Colorado College's Settles; Trinity's Salony Compete at NCAA Men's Cross Country Championship

LANSING, Mich., -- Colorado College's James Settles and Trinity University's Will Salony competed Saturday morning at the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championship meet at Forest Acres Golf Course in Lansing, Mich. Complete Results

Settles, the reigning SCAC Runner-of-the-Year, finished just outside All-American honors, crossing the line of the 8k course in 25:50.0 to secure 60th-place in a field of nearly 300 runners. His result was the best by any SCAC athlete at the national meet since former CC Tiger Nick Hall placed 60th in 2013.

"James had a great race today," head coach Alex Nichols said. "He moved up through the field and finished just outside of the All-American group. This will give him some valuable experience before his senior year."

Salony overcame cold and snowy conditions to turn in a 110th-place finish, crossing the line in 26:09.20. The two-time All-SCAC performer, Salony’s finish is the fifth-best in Trinity program history at the national meet.

"I'm proud of Salony's performance today," said Head Coach Emily Daum. "He competed well in tough conditions. Getting to experience nationals as a sophomore sets him up very well for future championship meets. The future of TUXC looks very bright!"
