Southwestern's Anderson Named SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Elite 19 Award Recipient

GARLAND, Texas -- In a announcement made at Saturday's conference championship, Southwestern University's Sam Anderson was named the 2023 SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Elite 19 award winner.

Anderson, a senior from Broomfield, Colo., currently holds a 4.00 GPA in Kinesiology while minoring in Psychology. At this weekend's SCAC Championship, he earned all-SCAC honors as a member of four different relay teams, including the 200 free, 400 free, 800 free and 200 medley squads.

Anderson is the first swimmer from Southwestern to earn the SCAC Elite 19 award, but his selection marks the 21st time a SU student-athlete has earned the league's highest individual honor - the most of any conference institution. Southwestern had been tied with Colorado College with 20 recipients each.

Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each conference sponsored-sport as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First, Second or Third Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
