SCAC Announces 2023 Esports Schedule

SUWANEE, Ga. - The SCAC office today officially released the 2023 Esports regular season schedule.

Regular season competition will take place in Apex Legends, League of Legends, Rocket League and Valorant. Super Smash Bros. Crew is the league's fifth championship game and is only contested on site at the SCAC Showdown - the league's season-ending championship event.

The 2023 SCAC Showdown is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 24-25, and, for the first time, will be held at The Tech Port Center and Arena in San Antonio, Texas. 

Current core members who sponsor Esports are Austin College, Colorado College, Schreiner University, Southwestern University, University of St. Thomas and Trinity University. Concordia University (Texas), Hendrix College and McMurry University are affiliiate members of the SCAC.

University of St. Thomas is the defending conference champion.

Regular season play in Valorant will begin on Monday, February 6 with Austin College taking on McMurry, Colorado College tangling with Concordia (Texas), Hendrix playing St. Thomas (Texas) and Southwestern squaring off against Schreiner. All matches begin at 7 pm CT.

League of Legends competition begins the following day - Tuesday, February 7 - with Austin College taking on Colorado College, Concordia (Texas) contesting Hendrix, St. Thomas (Texas) playing Southwestern and McMurry meeting Schreiner. All matches start at 7 pm CT.

Rocket League play opens Wednesday, February 8 with a triple header of Colorado College/St. Thomas (Texas); Concordia (Texas)/Hendrix and McMurry/Schreiner. All matches begin at 7 pm CT.

Lastly, Apex Legends competition opens on Thursday, February 9 with seven squads - Austin College, Colorado College, Concordia (Texas), Hendrix, McMurry, Schreiner and Southwestern - vying head-to-head on a weekly basis.
