SUWANEE, Ga. -- Trinity University picked up winter sports championships in men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving and women's basketball to take a commanding lead in the race for the 2022-23 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Presidents' Trophy. Those three championships, coupled with a previously earned conference title in women's soccer, have helped the Texas Tigers accumulate 332.5 points in the all-sports standings, 62.5 points clear of second-place Colorado College.
Trinity has finished no worse than third in any sport this season, posting second-place finishes in both men's and women's cross country as well as men's soccer this fall. The Trinity volleyball team, which advanced to the Division III national championship match, was upset in the conference tournament semifinals and earned a tie for third place at that championship. The Trinity men's basketball team made it to the the SCAC Men's Basketball tournament final before losing to Schreiner last weekend.
Trinity has won the last 11 SCAC Presidents' Trophies and has claimed the bell signifying conference supremacy 22 times overall. Both of those marks (consecutive and all-time wins) represent the current record in a league that has been recognizing an all-sports champion every year since 1962.
