HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Trinity started on the front foot, getting on the board early as sophomore Michaela Bosco scored the fastest goal in SCAC Women’s Soccer Tournament history, just 38 seconds into the match off an assist from Alana Wickham.
  • The Tigers doubled their lead when Bosco scored her second of the night in the 19th minute for her fourth multigoal effort of the season. Josephine McCray picked up her fourth assist of the season on the second Bosco marker.
  • Bosco capped off the natural hat trick scoring her third goal in the opening 22 minutes of the game thanks to Kyra Stafford’s team-high 11th assist on the year. It marked the forward’s third hat trick of the season.  
  • Cassie Bowers gave Trinity a 4-0 lead going into the half when she connected on her second goal of the season.  Emily Hayes and Maya Ozymy were credited with the assists.
  • The Tigers closed out the scoring late in the second half as Ashlyn Zingelmann recorded her third goal of the year in the 83rd minute. Hayes picked up her second assist of the night and Bella Ferruzzi her second assist on the year.
  • Trinity outshot Schreiner, 37-2, including a 16-1 advantage in shots on goal.
  • The Tigers also held an 11-0 edge in corner kicks, while the Mountaineers were whistled for 10 fouls to Trinity’s 11.

NOTABLES

  • Tonight’s semifinal marked the 12th-straight shutout in SCAC Tournament action for Trinity. The Tigers shutout streak is currently at 1,043:34 minutes and dates back to the 2016 final.
  • It also marked the 18th shutout of the seaon for the Tigers, setting a new SCAC record for shutouts in a single season.
  • Bosco’s hat trick is the first HT in SCAC Women’s Soccer Tournament action since former TU Tiger Kelsey Falcone’s back in the 2013 semifinals. Her goal just 38 seconds into the match is the fastest goal in SCAC Women’s Soccer Tournament history, eclipsing the previous record of 56 seconds set by Centenary’s Maddy Brown back in 2016.
  • Trinity improves to 4-0 all-time in SCAC Tournament play against Schreiner. The two teams also matched up in the 2017, 2018 and 2020-21 tournaments as well.
  • This is the 12th-straight year Trinity has reached the tournament final after the event was reinstated prior to the 2011 season. Trinity had been to the last two finals prior to that – in 1991 and 1992 – before the postseason was discontinued.
  • Schreiner made its first SCAC Tournament semifinal appearance since 2018 and finished the season with a record of 6-8-4, the most wins since 2017 for the Mountaineers.

UP NEXT

Trinity (19-0-1) advances to Sunday’s championship match against Texas Lutheran at 1 p.m. CT. It will be the fourth time the two programs have squared-off in the conference final. The Tigers are 3-0 against the Bulldogs in their previous title fixtures as Trinity defeated TLU in 2014, 2015 and 2017.
