LANSING, Mich., -- The Colorado College women's cross country team posted an impressive Top 20 finish at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet on Saturday at Forest Acres Golf Course in Lansing, Mich.

The Tigers, participating as a team for the second consecutive year, finished 20th on Saturday with 525 points, their best result at the national meet since finishing 12th in 2016. Defending champion Johns Hopkins won the team title with 144 points, followed by the University of Chicago with 147.

Sophomore Sydney Rankin led the Tigers by placing 43rd individually with a personal-best 6K time of 22:46.8. Rankin, who finished seventh at the SCAC Championship, did not compete at the NCAA Division III West Region Meet last weekend. Fellow sophomore Elliot Singer, the reigning two-time SCAC Runner of the Year and a 2021 All-American, placed 74th in 23:09.1.

I am really happy with how the team ran today," head coach Alex Nichols said. "Everyone stepped up to the challenge of the conditions and the national field. Seeing Sydney go from alternate to almost an All-American was an amazing example of how deep the team has been all season. I fully expect this team to keep improving in the coming years."

Juniors Jane Mallach and Na'ama Nevo finished 143rd and 213th, respectively, in their first appearance at the national meet. Mallach finished the race in 23:47.2 while Nevo ran a 24:14.9.

Freshman Ella Fullerton closed out the scoring for CC in 221st place with a time of 24:17.7, while senior Clare Quinn finished 243rd in her final collegiate race and freshman Alison Mueller-Hickler was 279th in her first national meet.
