Natalie McCoy, Austin College, Player of the Week (Week 11)

NATALIE MCCOY OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior guard from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 17 through Sunday, January 23. (Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 11)

McCoy had an outstanding week for Austin College as the 'Roos went 2-0 in a pair of SCAC contests, knocking off St. Thomas on the road last Tuesday and then defeating Centenary at home on Saturday. She averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks-per-game while shooting 52.6% from the field, 75% on threes (making 6-of-8 attempts), and 87.5% from the free throw line. McCoy has not scored 15 or more points in three-straight games after breaking the 15-point plateau just twice in the opening 10 contests of the year and her zero-turnover performance in the win over Centenary marked just the second time this season she has gone without a turnover.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior guard Anna Fanelli of Colorado College set the SCAC's single-game assist record when she dished out 15 in the 79-53 victory over Schreiner last Monday. In three games last week, she averaged 10 assists per game and her current total of 144 ranks third on the program's single-season list. Sophomore forward Alyssa Sullivan of Dallas scored a career-high 20 points, on a career best four made three-point field goals and added a team-high eight rebounds in the Crusaders’ loss to Texas Lutheran last Friday. Senior guard Gabby Ivarra of Schreiner averaged 11.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.7 blocks per game to lead the Mountaineers to a 2-1 record with wins over Colorado College and St. Thomas. Junior forward Olivia Anga of St. Thomas averaged nearly a double-double through three contests last week for the Celts with 16.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per games. Sophomore forward Princess Roberts of Southwestern poured in 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a tough loss to Texas Lutheran last Tuesday. Senior guard Jayla Santa Maria of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a pair of league wins last week, averaging 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 assists per game. Santa Maria scored 23 points, including the game-winning basket in a 70-68 win over Dallas to give TLU a perfect 5-0 start in SCAC play for the first time in program history. Junior guard Maggie Shipley of Trinity led the Tigers to a pair of SCAC victories over the weekend, extending the team's winning streak to 13 straight games, and remaining unbeaten in conference play. Shipley averaged 17.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per games over the weekend, hitting 50% (15-of-30) from the field as Trinity finished off regular season series sweeps of St. Thomas and Colorado College.
