OLIVIA ANGA OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a junior forward from Rosharon, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 3 through Sunday, January 9. (Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 9)

Anga poured in a career-high 21 points on 57.1 percent shooting, connecting on 8-of-14 shots to help the Celts snap a four-game losing streak and secure their first SCAC in of the season with a 12-point, 56-44, victory at home over Centenary last Friday night. She came up just short of securing her second double-double of the season, grabbing nine rebounds and also two steals and two blocks in 29 minutes of action. Friday’s effort was not only a high watermark for Anga in terms of points, it marked just the fourth time in her career in which she has scored 15 or more in a single contest.

Junior guard Destini Powell of Centenary averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 0.5 steals in a pair of tough road losses last weekend for the Ladies. In the two victories, Tomlinson shot 11-for-20 from the floor. She leads the Tigers with 109 rebounds for an average of 7.8 per game. First-year guard Demauria Miles of Schreiner led the Mountaineers to a pair of key SCAC victories over Southwestern in a home and home series last weekend. Miles averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 0.5 steals in the two victories. Schreiner has now knocked off Southwestern in six consecutive regular season competitions.
