Gabe Salako, University of St. Thomas, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 4)
GABE SALAKO OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a junior striker from Lagos, Nigeria, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 21st. 
 
Salako was involved in three of the Celts’ four goals last weekend as St. Thomas earned six crucial points in the league standings. On Wednesday, St. Thomas defeated Schreiner 3-0 and then handed Centenary its first conference loss of the season, 1-0, on Saturday. Against the Mountaineers, Salako was credited with an assist on the second goal and scored the third. Then against the Gents, he assisted on the lone goal of the match, giving him four point on the week with a goal and two assists.
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman defender Alexander Ward of Colorado College assisted on the Tigers’ lone goal of a 1-1 tie against Southwestern last weekend. The assist extended Ward’s point streak to three games. Freshman forward Theo Givens of Southwestern scored the Pirates’ goal with three minutes remaining to snatch a result in a 1-1 draw at home against Colorado College on Saturday. Junior forward Luis Green of Texas Lutheran scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as the Bulldogs notched a 4-0 home conference win over Austin College. Green took six total shots and had five shots on goal. Junior midfielder Mac McCord of Trinity netted the game-winning goal in the Tigers’ 1-0 win over Dallas last Friday. It was McCord’s first career goal.
