CHRIS PARSONS OF ST. THOMAS, a senior right-handed pitcher from Katy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, February 13 through Sunday, February 19. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 2
Parsons was untouchable on the mound in the Celts 3-0 victory over McMurry last weekend. He allowed just one hit and struck out 11 batters in eight innings of work. Parsons didn’t allow a single walk and has yet to allow a single run through his opening 15 innings of action this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior pitcher J.J. Slack of Southwestern racked up seven strikeouts last weekend in helping to lift the Pirates to a perfect 3-0 start to open the year. Slack only allowed one hit. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jackson Teer of Trinity tossed 7.0 innings without allowing a walk, giving up just one run on six hits and striking out four batters in his season debut. He allowed a run on four hits in the first three innings, then allowed just two singles over his final four innings of work. Junior Pitcher Kurtis Gustafson of Austin College was nearly perfect out the gates, throwing three scoreless innings and earning his first save of the year. Gustafson struck out three batters and posted a perfect 0.00 ERA last weekend.
