PAIGE HAVEL OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior middle blocker from Giddings, Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 6 through Sunday, September 11. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 2)
Havel posted an impressive 51 points in four matches this past week, highlighted by 34 total kills (2.43 per set), 12 blocks, and nine service aces across four matches. Spotlighted by a reverse sweep victory over #25 UMHB, Havel and the Celts finished 4-0 at their First Responders Tournament.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior right side Sara Flynn of Trinity was named to the East*West Classic All-Tournament team last weekend after she led the No. 2 Tigers with 27 kills through three matches including 12 on Saturday against No. 1 Claremont-M-S on a .478 hitting percentage. Flynn's efficient .308 attack percentage on the weekend was also bolstered by a .375 hitting rate against the host No. 14 Emory. Junior outside hitter Tanyse Moehrig of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with 41 kills in four matches in a 2-2 split over the weekend, which included a win over 2021 NCAA Tournament qualifier Transylvania. She hit .267 on the weekend and is currently second in the SCAC in kills. Junior setter Jenny Jenks of Colorado College had 88 assists (9.78 per match) to lead the Tigers to an undefeated weekend with wins over Illinois Tech and Friends. She also had seven kills and four service aces and her setting helped CC to a .344 hitting percentage over the three matches. Senior middle blocker Riley Brantley of Southwestern hit .266 and had 23 kills (1.92 per set) as the Pirates posted a 1-2 weekend at the Wesleyan (CT) Invitational.
