Amyia Bowie, University of St. Thomas, Player of the Week (Week 15)

AMYIA BOWIE OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a junior guard from Red Oak, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 17 through Sunday, February 23. SCAC Women's Basketball Release (Week 15)

Bowie was tremendous is helping St. Thomas close out the regular season in style, extending the Celts win streak to 11, the longest such streak since joining the SCAC prior to the 2019-20 season with home wins over Trinity and Schreiner to secure the No. 2 seed out of the Blue Division for the SCAC Tournament. Bowie averaged 14.5 points on 45 percent shooting and added 9.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals per contest, highlighted by a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the Celts’ win over the Mountaineers on Sunday. Bowie and the Celts, who were 3-9 through 12 contests, have rattled off 11-straight wins to return to the SCAC Tournament for the first time since 2023.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard Lexi Martin of Austin College had an outstanding weekend as the 'Roos finished the season strong, going 2-0 with comeback wins against both Centenary and Ozarks. Martin averaged 20.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 assists while shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc (9-of-21), scoring 21 against the Ladies and 19 against the Eagles. First-year forward Shyanne Phillips of Centenary closed out her sensational rookie campaign with a pair of road double-doubles at Austin College and Dallas to close out the season. Phillips averaged 16.5 points on 40 percent shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds in both contests. For the season, Phillips averaged 12.0 rebounds per game, setting a new program record for rebounds per game in a single season. Phillips finished the year with 13 double-doubles and reached the 20-plus point plateau three times. Senior center Zoë Tomlinson of Colorado College closed out the regular season with another dominant performance in wins over Schreiner and Trinity. averaged 23.5 points, 16.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game, highlighted by a 27-point, 17 rebound performance in the Tigers win over Trinity on Senior Day on Sunday. Tomlinson is tied for third in the country with 20 double-doubles and has seven 20+ point, 15+ rebound games this season. Senior guard Adryan Alvarez of Dallas capped off her final season averaging 19.0 points over two contests, highlighted by 26 points on 56.3 percent shooting in a win over Centenary on Senior Day. Alvarez also added 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game and finished her career with 1,059 total points. Senior guard Emily Holland of McMurry lifted the War Hawks to three wins last week to close out the regular season and secure Co-Champions of the Gold Division and the top seed out of the gold division going into the upcoming SCAC Tournament. Holland averaged 19.3 points on 42.5 percent shooting and added 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.7 assists to secure the final the wins of the season. Junior guard Brie Sosa of Schreiner closed out the season averaging 18.5 points on 45.2 percent shooting to go along with 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.5 assists over the final two contests of the year on the road at Colorado College and St. Thomas. Junior guard Angelina Sotelo of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a split of SCAC contests on the road to close out the regular season, falling to McMurry before bouncing back to defeat Concordia. Sotelo averaged 16.5 points on 42.3 percent shooting and added 3.5 steals, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds a contest heading into this weekend’s SCAC Tournament.
