EMMA LUNA OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a junior from League City, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played through Tuesday, March 5. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 3)
Luna matched her day one score of 77 in Tuesday's final round, firing 13 pars on the day to lock in a second place individual finish among the 41-player field. The junior finished with a two-day total of 154 (+12), just one shot off Houston-Victoria's Emmily Bickelmann, who took medalist honors with a final score of 153.
Luna's efforts helped lead St. Thomas to a second place team finish at the Schreiner Spring Shoot-Out which was played at Comanche Trace in Kerrville. The Celts finished with a two-day team score 631, just one stroke shy of the eventual tournament champion Cal Lutheran.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Abby Yanta of Schreiner secured a top 15 finish, coming in tied for 12th after a final round 77 catapulted her eight places up the leaderboard on Tuesday. Yanta finished with a two-day total of 162 (+18) to pace the Mountaineers.
