Tom Hultsch, University of St. Thomas, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 2)
TOM HULTSCH OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior defender from Luneburg, Germany, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 7th.

Hultsch anchored a Celts defensive line that posted its second shutout in three games to help lift St. Thomas to a 1-0 win at Texas Lutheran last Saturday and secure three big points in the SCAC standings. St. Thomas limited TLU to just two shots all game, the fewest shot the Bulldogs have had in a contest since a game against Concordia back on Sept. 9th, 2017.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Centenary junior goalkeeper Sami Borchalli helped the Gents win their SCAC opener for the second consecutive season following a 1-0 victory over Dallas at home last Sunday. Borchalli grabbed four saves en route to his sixth career shutout, ranking him third all-time among Centenary goalkeepers in the Div. III era for the Gents. Sophomore goalkeeper Goncalo Pernas of Dallas made a season-high seven saves in a tough 1-0 loss to Centenary last Sunday. Freshman goalkeeper Jack Viles of Southwestern registered four saves in the Pirates’ 1-0 shutout victory over Schreiner last weekend. Viles’ effort helped Southwestern post back-to-back shutouts to start a season for the first time since 2009.
