Salazar clinched the decisive match for the Celts, sealing a 4-3 team victory over Wisconsin-Superior with a comeback win of 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 on Tuesday. The first-year went 3-0 on the week at No. 4 singles, also picking up victories against competitors from Illinois Wesleyan and Belhaven.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Kishan Kersten of Trinity finished with two singles wins for the 11th-ranked Tigers last week, which defeated Occidental before losing a doubleheader against D-I Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Kersten opened his week with a 6-3, 6-3 line three win over Occidental, completing the 7-0 victory with the final match on the court. After sitting out the first match against A&M-Corpus, he came back with a three-set singles win in Trinity's 5-2 loss against the Islanders. Kersten won 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 6-4 at line two singles to finish off the match once again. First-year Sam Dilworth of Colorado College won both of his matches at the No. 4 singles position last week. First, he captured the only Tiger win against Division I Marist, defeating Ian Layton, 6-4, 6-3, then closed out the weekend with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Kenny Chan of 34th-ranked CalTech. First-year Vincent Risoldi of Concordia (Texas) earned a victory over Josiah Mones of nationally-ranked (#40) Occidental on line four of singles play. Risoldi showed resilience in the comeback effort as he dropped the first set 1-6 and then won the next sets, 6-2, 6-4. Senior Oscar Roy of Southwestern defeated the number one singles player from Hendrix College in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, over the weekend.
