INDIANAPOLIS - After a week of waiting, the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs travel plans for the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship have been announced.
Texas Lutheran (34-9) will be the fourth-seed in a six team bracket at the West Regional, hosted in Spokane, Wash. by Whitworth University and the Spokane Sports Commission.
Other teams that will be in the regional include two Texas programs, Concordia University and the University of Texas - Dallas. This season, the Bulldogs swept a three-game series against UTD, but they did not play Concordia.
The bracket will also include Chapman University as the top seed, followed by the University of the Redlands. Willamette rounds out the field as the sixth-seed. Of those three teams, the Bulldogs have only played Willamette, earning a 4-3 win in the third game of the season.
The Bulldogs will enter the tournament on a six-game winning streak after flying through the SCAC Baseball Championship bracket with wins over two fellow regionally-ranked programs, Trinity University and Centenary College.
Texas Lutheran will face Concordia in their first contest at 6 p.m. (PT) on Thursday evening, with the winner advancing to face either Redlands or UT-Dallas. The loser will take on the winner of the match-up between Chapman and Willamette.
