LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's golf teams were in action last week with both programs earning top-three finishes in their respective tournaments.
The Southwestern University men's golf team shot a 291 (+3) on Tuesday morning for a three round score of 866 (+2) and a third palce finish at the Rhodes College Fall Classic at Tunica National.
The Pirates led the way in Par 4 scoring at +15 and also led the field in birdies with 53 throughout the week. Sutherland Stith was named to the all-tournament team after finishing tied for fourth individually. Stith shot a 74 (+2) on Tuesday for a three round score of 213 (-3). Stith led all scorers in Par 4 scoring at -4 throughout the week.
Centenary College moved up from third in the first round to finish second at +37 (618) in the Louisiana College Fall Classic. LeTourneau also captured the men’s title by 15 strokes, while the Gents knocked Howard Payne to third as it finished with a +42 (623) Belhaven took fourth while host Louisiana College finished fifth.
For the Gents, Austin Craig easily shot a tournament-low round of 68 (-4) to improve by 14 strokes from the first day. He improved 16 places on the day, finishing fifth with a two-round total of 150 (+6).
