LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Conference action heated up this weekend as all seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer teams competed. Trinity University clinched the first berth to the 2017 SCAC Women's Soccer Tournament with a pair of wins last week.
The Tigers (11-1, 7-0 SCAC) posted a pair of 4-0 victories last week, defeating second place Schreiner University on Wednesday before traveling to the University of Dallas Friday.
The Mountaineers (6-5-1, 5-1-1 SCAC) rallied from the loss to Trinity by posting a 2-0 win at Dallas on Sunday to maintain second place in the league standings. Texas Lutheran University (5-6-1, 5-2-1 SCAC) joined Schreiner in second place with a pair of victories over Austin College and Centenary College last week.
Southwestern University (2-9, 2-6 SCAC) posted a weekend sweep for the team's first wins of the season, also defeating Austin College and Centenary. The Pirates welcomed back goalkeeper Mary Cardone, as she teamed up with Kylie Hunt to post the team's first shutouts of the season and lead them to back-to-back 1-0 victories.
The Pirates earned six points in the standings and currently sit in a tie for sixth place with Austin College. Centenary and Dallas each have seven points to tie for fourth place.
