COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fourth-seeded Trinity University held fifth-seeded Colorado College scoreless for the final 7:19 of the first half and cruised to a 63-47 victory in Friday's first quarterfinal game of the 2018 SCAC Men's Basketball Tournament. Official Tournament Website
The Texas Tigers outscored the CC Tigers 14-0 during that run to take a 34-16 halftime lead and led by as many as 28 in the second stanza before settling for the final margin.

- Colorado College came out hot and scored the first seven points of the game.
- Trinity responded with a 13-5 run, took its first lead at 13-12 with 10:34 remaining and never trailed again.
- In the decisive first half, Trinity held Colorado College to 21.4 percent (6-28) from the floor.
- Trinity held a huge advantage in bench points, outscoring Colorado College 31-12.

NOTABLES
- Trinity has played the host school in the quarterfinal round three straight years, but this is the Tigers' first victory after going 0-2 the previous years (Centenary in 2016 and Southwestern in 2017).
- Trinity will play in the semifinal round for the first time since 2014 when they won the entire tournament.
- This is the sixth straight year the No. 4 seed has defeated the No. 5 seed in the men's tournament.
- Trinity moves to 11-3 all-time in SCAC quarterfinal games. Colorado College is now 1-4.
- After earning a first round bye the last two seasons, Colorado College fails to advance to the semifinal round for the first time since 2015.
- Colorado College's loss marks the first time since 2010 the host school has lost its first game of the tournament.
