SCAC Releases 2018 Women's Tennis All-Tournament Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2018 SCAC Women's Tennis all-Tournament team this morning. Complete Release

Caroline Kutach of Trinity earned all-tournament honors at No. 1 singles after receiving all-tournament recognition last year at the No. 2 line. She and teammate Cheyenne Duncan also received all-tourney honors at No. 3 doubles. The duo was all-tourney in 2015 at No. 2 doubles and Kutach was half of the Tigers' all-tournament No. 2 doubles in 2017. Trinity's Ashley DeBauge (2-0) and Zoe Kaffen (1-0) also went undefeated to garner an all-tourney singles nod. Sisters Mary and Zoe Kaffen went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles to earn all-tournament honors – both were part of all-tournament doubles teams in 2017 but with different partners. Andrea De Leon and Marie Lutz were all-tourney (2-0) at No. 2 doubles – making Lutz just the fourth player in league history to earn all-tournament doubles honors each of her four years in the league.

Other multiple-year honorees include Megan Ingram of Texas Lutheran, who became a three-time all-tourney honoree when she received the honor at No. 3 singles this season after receiving similar recognition in 2015 and 2017. Anna Sergiovanni of Austin College, Anna Schneemann of Southwestern and Annie Zlevor of Colorado College are also multiple year all-tournament honorees.

The 19th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team won its seventh consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship with a 5-0 victory over 31st-ranked Southwestern University this past Sunday.

The Tigers have captured seven consecutive SCAC titles, and now have 22 SCAC women's tennis championships as a program.

In Sunday's championship match, Kutach and Duncan got things started for the Tigers by earning the first doubles point with their 8-4 win at line three. The Kaffen sisters followed suit with an 8-4 win of their own at line one. Lutz and De Leon were able to pull out a 9-8 (9-7) win at line two, weathering a late rally by Southwestern to allow the Tigers to go up 3-0 after doubles.

DeBauge picked up the first doubles point of the day with a quick 6-1, 6-3 win at line two. Kutach followed suit after coming back in the second set of her match to take a 6-4, 6-3 win at line one.

Z. Kaffen, De Leon, and M. Kaffen all had matches left unfinished at lines three, four and five, respectively.
