LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - With the regular season officially over, the six teams that will continue their seasons at the 2018 SCAC Men's Basketball Championship have been decided.
Heading into last week's conference action, four spots had been secured for the tournament by Schreiner University, Centenary College, the University of Dallas and Trinity University. Colorado College, Southwestern University and Texas Lutheran University battled it out for the final two berths.
Schreiner took the regular season trophy outright after defeating Trinity on Thursday evening. The Mountaineers earn their second regular season title in as many years and will head to the tournament with the top seed and a first-round bye.
Texas Lutheran (11-14, 7-7 SCAC) posted a huge comeback overtime victory against Southwestern (10-15, 6-8 SCAC) to earn their spot, being down by as many as fiften points in the second half to take a lead into the final seconds. Southwestern's Luke Hicks made a three-pointer with eight seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game up and eventually send it to overtime. The Bulldogs eventually won the game after a three from Nathan Josephs with just two seconds on the clock.
