Trinity's Holguin Named D3hoops.com All-American

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity University women's basketball senior guard Monica Holguin has been elected a D3hoops.com Second Team All-American.

Recently, Holguin was selected as the D3hoops.com South Region Player of the Year, as well as being tabbed for the All-Region First Team. Holguin was also named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive time.

Holguin was a key member of a Tiger team which produced a highly successful 28-2 season. She posted 461 points during the campaign, placing her as Trinity's 10th-highest single-season scorer. Holguin finished her collegiate career with 1,019 points, and became the 16th Tiger player to reach the 1,000-points mark.

Head Coach Cameron Hill guided his team to the NCAA Division III round of 16. He led Trinity to its third NCAA Tournament in his five years at the helm. Coach Hill also skippered the Tigers to a third SCAC Championship on his watch. The 28 victories tied a Trinity single-season record.

For his efforts, Coach Hill was chosen as the D3hoops.com South Region Coach of the Year. He also was elected by his peers as the SCAC Coach of the Year, for the second time in his career.
